THE assistant editor of the UK’s highest-circulation regional newspaper has joined the Aberdeen office of one of the country’s leading public relations firms.
After three-and-a-half years at the Press and Journal, Jonathan Moore is leaving to join Weber Shandwick.
During his time at the P&J, Moore had responsibility for around 30 editorial staff. Notably, he was duty editor on Boxing Day two years ago, when the Tsunami struck.
Moore will join Weber Shandwick’s senior management team in Scotland. His responsibilities will include working with existing Aberdeen office clients and generating new business.
He said: “I am looking forward to turning over 20 years’ experience in the media in the north and east of Scotland to Weber Shandwick’s advantage. It is a fantastic challenge for both myself and my contacts book and I am looking forward to it immensely.”
Moore will report to Weber Shandwick Scotland deputy managing director, and head of the firm’s Aberdeen office, John Macdonald.
Moore is a former editor of the Aberdeen Independent newspaper, head of news at Northsound Radio, news editor at Radio Tay, and duty editor at Radio Forth. He started his career in 1984, as a trainee reporter at the Arbroath Herald newspaper.
Weber Shandwick has four offices in Scotland: in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness.
