AN appeal that the funeral of Magnus Magnusson – taking place this morning – be a private affair will mean a pooling of newspaper and broadcasting resources.
First, BBC Scotland is hoping to provide copies of the service, the tribute being made by the former president of Iceland, Vigdis Finnbogadottoir, and the address by the Rev, Willie Storrar.
A Press Association reporter and photographer will be covering the funeral and they will make their material available to anyone who wants it.
The BBC will have a news crew at the entrance to the church for arrival shots and stv are likely to do likewise.
The PA photographer will be situated close to the entrance of the church but the family have specifically requested that no coverage of the burial at the adjacent cemetery takes place.
A public memorial service in Glasgow will be held in the near future which the family hope will allow everyone to attend who wishes to pay their respects to Magnus – including his many friends and colleagues in the media.
