THE fulfilment of a long-standing dream awaits the former managing director of Edinburgh-based radio station, Radio Forth.
But it’s not as if Adam Findlay’s departure, announced on Friday, is so smooth that a successor is already in place. As a media release, confirming his departure, says: “An early priority will be to appoint a new leader for Radio Forth.”
That task is to be undertaken by Paul Cooney, who has taken over the reins from Findlay and is currently in charge of sister station, Radio Clyde.
Findlay is son of Sir Richard Findlay, who headed Forth’s former owners, Scottish Radio Holdings. Now, Forth and Clyde are part of magazines and radio giant, Emap.
Findlay is believed to have taken possession of a cherished yacht earlier this year and has targeted an expedition to the Mediterranean fairly soon.
That said, he isn’t leaving Forth until Christmas and Emap until spring, courtesy of some “projects” he is involved with.
Which does sound like an amicable parting of the ways.
