A FORMER sports editor of the Daily Mail is tomorrow taking his specialism of producing ‘Big Interview’ sports features to the airwaves.
Multi, award-winning Bryan Cooney, who has been writing a Big Interview feature for the Sunday
Herald newspaper for a number of years – now on a more occasional basis – tomorrow begins what is his first major foray into radio broadcasting with a piece about South African athlete, Zola Budd.
It was Budd who was controversially fast-tracked to represent Great Britain and Northern Ireland at the 1984 Olympics – only to end up forcing home favourite, Mary Decker, off the track, in the women’s 3,000km final, following an accidental clash of legs.
The Pain of the Game is broadcast on BBC Radio Scotland tomorrow at 11.05am, and repeated on Sunday at 5.05pm.
