AN Edinburgh writer has secured a prestigious appointment down south.
Columnist and novelist, Ruaridh Nicoll, has been elevated to the job of comment editor at The Observer, taking over from Barbara Gunnell, who has moved over to the New Statesman.
Nicoll becomes the latest in a long line of ex-Scotland on Sunday hacks to reach a position of influence at the London paper.
