A ‘CONTEMPORARY supernatural theme’ is to underpin three BBC Scotland dramas that have each just begun filming.
Empathy, Life Line and Sea Of Souls – the third of these an already established drama on the BBC schedule – are being made by Carnival Films.
By Steve Lightfoot, Empathy is described as the story of an ex-con whose paranormal visions assist the police in the hunt for a murderer. Lightfoot’s credits include Sorted and No Angels.
Life Line, meanwhile, is described as “a supernatural love story”, and is by Stephen Gallagher, whose credits include Murder Rooms and Eleventh Hour.
Sea Of Souls returns as a two-part special, written by the show’s original creator David Kane, with Scots actor, Bill Paterson, reprising his role as Professor Douglas Monaghan.
All three are being produced by Tim Bradley, whose credits include Silent Witness and Teachers.
Says Anne Mensah, head of Drama for BBC Scotland: “It is so exciting to be part of the launch of such original material. Each film is slightly supernatural in flavour and very modern but also wonderfully distinctive, which means they will be a real treat to watch when they are broadcast next year.”
Empathy is directed by David Richard and Life Line by Jamie Payne. The director for Sea Of Souls will be announced in due course.
London-based Carnival Films is the company behind TV drama, Hotel Babylon.
The trio will air next year.
