FORMER Scotsman diarist and now radio broadcaster, Simon Pia, has never hidden his footballing allegiance, and with his beloved Hibernian without a manager, he finds himself topping a poll on who should succeed Tony Mowbray, who left the club last week for English outfit, West Bromwich Albion.
In a poll being run on the website of talk107 – for whom he broadcasts an afternoon phone-in show – Pia finds himself ahead of footballing luminaries such as John Hughes, current manager of Falkirk FC. When Spike last checked, he was commanding an impressive 22 per cent of the vote.
Thing is, would Hibs appoint him? Not because he’s an unknown quantity (his press conference would surely be good fun) but because of the very public spats – through the pages of The Scotsman – he had some years ago with the Hibernian owner?
