A FORMER local authority communications officer is understood to be appealing being dismissed from her post following claims she had admitted joining social media to find out what people were saying about her employers.
Today, The Scotsman reports Jo Smith being dismissed by Argyll and Bute Council after being suspended in February for allegedly making the admission during a “presentation to delegates at a PR conference”.
But in a statement issued by the Scottish office of the National Union of Journalists, it is being claimed she intends to appeal the decision, claiming a lack of evidence, an inability to find the source of the original allegation against her and testimony in her favour by “ten highly respected, named communications professionals who did attend the conference”.
