A FORMER industrial correspondent at The Scotsman, who went on to become heavily involved in managing the public relations around some of the most significant industrial closures in Scotland, has died, following a short illness.
The funeral of Martin Reid-Foster is taking place on Monday, at Cardross Crematorium, at 12.45pm. He was aged 82.
At The Scotsman between 1954 and 1959, he was also a features writer and air correspondent.
While he was at PR agency, Charles Barker Scotland – between 1964 and 1981, during which time he rose to the position of joint managing director and deputy chair – he was involved in the PR management of shipyard closures on the River Clyde.
Later, while running his own company, Reid-Foster Public Relations, he was involved in the PR involving the closure of the British Leyland vehicle plant in Bathgate, West Lothian.
Reid-Foster Public Relations operated between from 1986 until 1996, at which point he retired.
