AS the late, great journalist, George Hume, was sometimes fond of saying, we are all natural story-tellers.
We would never tell the story of witnessing a dramatic police incident while on our way home from work by prefacing it with when we left work, what the weather was like, whether we said ‘cheerio’ to the boss or not, etc, etc.
We would get to the point.
