EDINBURGH-based design agency, BOLD, is celebrating its first year in business with a turnover in year one of a quarter of a million pounds – over a wide and diverse range of clients from festivals to housing; food to community enterprise.
The dynamic BOLD team – led by highly-experienced creative director and brand strategist, John Ayscough, and award-winning crowd funder and strategic marketer, Kirsty Gilchrist – have taken their own ethos to heart by creating the agency as a social enterprise from the very start.
The team has now expanded to a core of five people with skills across online, graphics, social media and film.
By setting out their stall in the Third Sector and very firmly in the social enterprise arena – BOLD’s ambition is not only to be the top agency in its field but aims to move the social enterprise agenda much further along, to compete with mainstream businesses. By ploughing company profits back into the organisation they have been fleet of foot in building a strong following of social enterprises including Edinburgh Social Enterprise Network, MyParkScotland, Hanover (Scotland) Housing Association and Community Shares Scotland to name a few.
Commenting on their first year, John Ayscough said: “It is a game changer – we are unlike other agencies in so far as we are working to build capacity within organisations. We are all about stimulating change in the social enterprise sector by considering longer term sustainability which will put us on a parallel with the private sector.”
