Border Biscuits boosts nationwide presence in Asda
Big Baking Bonanza enhances product portfolio
LANARK-based Border Biscuits has further enhanced its presence in Asda stores, by securing an exclusive nationwide listing for the winning recipe of this year’s Big Baking Bonanza, an amateur baking competition to find the best biscuit recipe in Britain.
Developing and maintaining a strong relationship with Asda since 2004, Border Biscuits has steadily grown its product portfolio and significantly increased its sales, reporting a 48 per cent year-on-year increase with the leading supermarket.
The winning Big Baking Bonanza recipe will be created by the skilled team at Border Biscuits and turned into a limited edition new product, which will go on sale in Asda in 2016*.
Susanna Hassard, Asda regional buyer, Scotland and Northern Ireland, said: “The Border Biscuits range continues to perform well in our stores and we’re really pleased to be working with them to search for an exclusive new product. There’s some extremely talented amateur bakers out there and we’re looking forward to developing a new product that our customers will love.”
To help select the best recipe, baking bloggers from across the UK are being asked to lend a hand by testing the shortlisted recipes and joining the judging panel. Baking bloggers are being invited to Tweet @BorderBiscuits, using the hashtag #BBjudge and explain in 140 characters why they should be picked.
The local blogging judge will help whittle down the entries and join an expert panel including: the Border Biscuits baking team, last year’s winner Emma McBurney, Susanna Hassard, Asda Regional Buyer Scotland and colleagues from Asda House.
Lesley Ann Gray, brand and sales manager at Border Biscuits, said: “We have developed an excellent relationship with Asda over the years and we have taken part in its Supplier Development Programme which has really helped to nurture this.
“We’re delighted that the winning recipe from our Big Baking Bonanza will become a national listing and we’re looking forward to continuing our successful partnership with Asda.”
Budding bakers can enter the Big Baking Bonanza by submitting their recipe online now at www.borderbiscuits.co.uk until 13th June 2015.
