Swipii brings their mission of empowering local businesses to the town
SWIPII, the award-winning digital loyalty company, has begun expanding its list of Airdrie locations.
Since launching in Glasgow in summer last year, Swipii has expanded to over 180 locations across London and Central Scotland.
Long Live Local
Swipii’s iPad-based system allows local, independent businesses to create bespoke loyalty programmes replacing traditional paper punch cards with a points-based system of fun and unique rewards.
By earning points through repeat visits, Swipii users can unlock rewards such as free high-fives and coffee upgrades, free eyebrow treatments from Lorraine’s Beauty Room, free burgers from Ace’s American Diner, to a free gent’s haircut from A Cut Above.
Swipii’s aim is to move away from ‘points-for-pounds’ loyalty concepts and towards crafting loyalty programmes which convey the personality and culture of independent stores, with the ultimate goal of strengthening the connection that people have with their local area, under their mantra of ‘#LongLiveLocal’.
Expansion to Airdrie
Swipii CEO and co-founder, Chitresh Sharma, says: “We are really excited about expanding Swipii into Airdrie.
“We want to help businesses in Airdrie bridge the gap between the physical and digital worlds and help them modernise their business, and Swipii is very easy for both customers and the shop staff to use, which means that it doesn’t intrude on the staff’s time and they can carry on doing what they do best.
“We aim to give businesses the tools to help empower themselves, and support local shops and help them grow along with their communities.”
Adds a spokesperson: “The expansion to Airdrie is being rolled out in partnership with North Lanarkshire-based social economy company, Town Centre Activities, whose mission is to deliver a range of services to the communities and town centres of North Lanarkshire, including promoting the strength and diversity of experiences available to residents of the area.”
Marissa DiNardo, of Frocks and Fancies, said: “Frocks & Fancies Boutique in Airdrie (the old Tango Cafe, for all of you who remember it) are happy to be part of the new Swipii loyalty scheme.
“We offer great value and choices with a personal touch, so we’re looking forward to being able to use Swipii to make that connection with our customers even better. We have great pride that our property has stayed in the family for over 100 years, so I really believe that small, local businesses have a really important role to play on the high street.”
Swipii is celebrating the launch in Airdrie with an Easter egg hunt competition in partnership with TCA involving local shops to encourage Airdrie residents to explore the rich independent business community in Airdrie.
Contestants will have a week to collect chocolate eggs from as many businesses as possible, and at the end of the week the top three egg hunters will win a prize.

About Swipii
Swipii is a tablet-based digital loyalty solution for SMEs to bring their customers back more often. We work with local businesses to create bespoke loyalty programmes with rewards specific to each individual business to reflect the store’s personality, culture and business objectives.
We place a tablet at the point of sale and give customers the ability to use a single card or app at all participating locations. In addition to increasing customer engagement, Swipii allows merchants to give deals to their loyal customers, as well as enter cross-promotional deals with non-competing merchants.
Swipii’s mission is to help small and local shops bring their business into the 21st century. Since launching in Glasgow in summer 2014, it has spread to more than 180 businesses and 50,000 users across Scotland and London.
