SHE did it! Zoe Reid, Epilepsy Scotland’s Edinburgh youth worker, came first for ‘Supporting the Community’ in the Champion Awards run by UK charity, Young Epilepsy.
Chosen as the outright winner among her peers, Zoe Reid was there to hear the winning announcement and was presented with her trophy at London’s City Hall among celebrity guests including broadcaster Nicolas Owen, Olympian Dai Greene and professional footballer Leon Legge.
Dai Greene said, “It was an absolute honour to be a part of the Young Epilepsy Champions Awards. The stories I have heard tonight have really touched and inspired me, congratulations and thank you to everyone out there working tirelessly for young people and children with epilepsy.”
Proud of Zoe Reid and of what she has achieved, Epilepsy Scotland’s chief executive, Lesslie Young, commented: “This is a great honour for Zoe. Her nomination was chosen from hundreds of applications representing individuals and organisations from all over the UK.
“It is testimony to the enthusiastic and consistently high standard of support she gives to so many people. We appreciate this excellence has been recognised by the judges and we are thrilled at her success.”
Zoe Reid finds it humbling to have won this top award and said: “I am over the moon! I feel like the luckiest person in the world to have this job and to have the opportunity to help and support such inspirational young people. This award isn’t just for me; it’s meant for all the resilient and awe-inspiring young people I work with.”
