Media Release: Hollywood star’s parents taste of fame at Glenturret Distillery

Ewan parents 450x450

THE Famous Grouse Experience welcomed some very proud parents last week as Ewan McGregor’s mum and dad dropped in to pick up a bottle of the limited edition Bottle Your Own Ewan McGregor Cask, named after their world-famous Scottish son.

This cask is the latest in a series of limited edition ‘Famous’ offerings to be sold at Glenturret Distillery in Crieff, which is right on the doorstep of where the Hollywood movie star grew up.

While visiting, Jim and Carol McGregor enjoyed the Bottle Your Own experience, received a bottle in their Famous son’s name and went on to sign the visitor book during their visit to Scotland’s oldest distillery. This new star-studded single cask of The Glenturret Highland Single Malt is the second in a series of Famous offerings which started with a limited edition Earl and Countess of Strathearn Cask, bottled first by the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge on their visit to the distillery earlier this year.

Building on their very first Famous links to the area, the Bottle Your Own Series will continue to celebrate other ‘Famous’ individuals from the area. Also continuing with the Bottle Your Own series’ links with charity, £2 from every bottle sold from the Ewan McGregor Cask will be donated to a charity of Ewan’s choice.

Stuart Cassells, general manager of The Famous Grouse Experience at Glenturret Distillery, said:

“It has been fantastic to welcome Mr and Mrs McGregor to The Famous Grouse Experience on Ewan’s behalf. We are very proud of Ewan’s achievements both in Crieff and all over Scotland, so to be able to honour his ‘Famous’ work by naming our latest Glenturret Bottle Your Own cask after him and share that pride with his parents is a privilege. We are delighted that they enjoyed their visit, in particular the Bottle Your Own Experience.”

The Bottle Your Own cask series are hand-picked exceptional casks from the Glenturret Distillery by The Famous Grouse Master Blender, Gordon Motion. These are extremely collectable and the bottles from these casks are exclusive to the Glenturret Distillery shop. Bottles are still available from the limited Ewan McGregor Cask, but is proving popular so move fast if you want to pick up a unique last-minute Christmas present.
