AN Inverness firm celebrating its 140th anniversary has been named a surprise finalist in a national awards scheme.
Shortlisted for the Law Awards of Scotland 2014 – in the category, ‘High Street Firm of the Year’ – Innes & Mackay of Inverness was initially nominated in another category.
“This came as a bit of a surprise,” said director, Lisa Law.
“We were originally entered in the category of ‘Private Client’ for our work in Wills and Estates; however, the judges considered our nomination to be so strong they instead made us finalists in a much more prominent category.”
Innes & Mackay are the only Inverness firm among the finalists.
Managing partner, John MacLeod, said: “It’s a tremendous honour to be named a finalist. It’s particularly special as the firm is about to celebrate our 140th anniversary. We’ve got some special activities to mark the occasion which we’ll announce this autumn, but to kick off our anniversary year with a win at the Law Awards would be a great start indeed.”
The Law Awards are unique among professional awards, in that firms are only invited to submit a nomination after extensive independent research by the Law Awards.
The winners will be announced Thursday [4 September] in Glasgow.
