A FEISTY quartet of lassies from United Auctions (UA) is ready to show that ‘girls rule and boys drool’ as they don pink ladies’ outfits to defend the winners’ title at the RSABI Great Glen Challenge 2014 next week.
UA’s team, branded ‘Leading Livestock Lassies’, is one of the first all-female teams to compete in the annual charity event that sees teams of four walk, run, kayak and cycle a 63km Highland course on August 29th.
The Lassies will be popping the collars of their pink jackets and bringing their ‘Greased Lightnin’’ attitudes to prove that girls ‘rule the school’ by retaining the trophy won by UA’s Rostrum Rascals last year.
The Livestock Lassies are made up of team captain, Louise Mercer (23), Christine Struthers (25), Zara Stewart (20) and Rachel Mann (37), who is not pictured.
They are competing with 20 teams representing 12 rural organisations and businesses to win the event and raise the most money for Scotland’s rural charity.
Fundraising has already started and the Lassies are keen to beat the boys’ winning total of £4,000.
Said Louise Mercer: “We’re a competitive lot so this is already a great laugh as it’s become a battle of the sexes in the office.
“The bar was set high by the boys last year but we’re strong, young lassies and we intend to give them a run for their money so we can raise that trophy and the much-needed cash for such an important cause.”
