A NORTH-east craft brewery has been shortlisted in prestigious food and drink industry awards.
Keith-based brewery, Brewmeister has made it through to the next round of the Highlands and Islands Food and Drink Awards in the Export Award and Food and Drink Business Growth Award categories.
The awards, which celebrate the wide and diverse food and drink offerings being produced across the north of Scotland, features producers of goods including craft beer, whisky, cheese, preserves and meats, as well as restaurants and retailers.
The winners will be announced at a ceremony at the Kingsmills Hotel, Inverness on Friday, 24 October.
Start-up brewery, Brewmeister, which was launched in 2012, prides itself on being ‘Inherently Scottish’, using all natural ingredients and local spring water in its entire range of beers.
The brewery recently expanded into a new 5,000sq ft facility allowing it to more than quadruple its production capacity in order to meet demands from customers across the world. The company already exports to Europe and Asia and is in talks with distributers in the US.
Managing director of Brewmeister, Lewis Shand, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have made it to the finals of the Highlands and Islands Food and Drink Awards – twice! However, to have made the cut alongside so many other great firms is an accolade in itself.
“This recognition is a huge boost for our whole team and we are delighted that our hard work is paying off and I am really looking forward to the ceremony in October.”
Brewmeister, which was launched by student at the time, Lewis Shand, now has 13 members of staff, and expects to develop a number of employment opportunities for the surrounding areas and the North-east.
Brewmeister beer is currently available in several Aberdeen bars, hotels and restaurants, as well as a number of small, independent retailers.
