THE home of the ‘Mighty Dons’ is gearing up to say ‘olé’ to hoards of Spanish fans this Thursday as Aberdeen Football Club go head-to-head with Real Sociedad in its Europa League match.
More than 18,000 fans are expected to descend upon Pittodrie stadium, part of the Prestive Venues & Events portfolio, ready to enjoy the match and indulge in what in-house caterers, Sodexo Prestige, have put together to ensure a truly Spanish experience.
Having sold more than 280 dining packages for this evening’s match, chefs at the club have created a Spanish themed menu featuring ‘Lento Lomo Asado de Cerdo’, a slow-roasted loin of Perthshire pork, served with black-eyed beans, tomatoes and Mediterranean vegetables.
The two-course meal will be served in the Aberdeen Asset Management Suite and will also include a crème caramel mousse, helping to fuel fans ahead of the tense match.
Paul Quick, general manager for Sodexo Prestige at Pittodrie, said: “The match on Thursday is already is sell-out and if Aberdeen win, it’s sure to bring a huge buzz to the city.
“Dining packages have also been selling very quickly, which is why our Sodexo Prestige chefs decided to go the extra mile to welcome fans by creating a Spanish-themed menu.
“Despite the European cuisine influence, the dishes still incorporate top Scottish ingredients including pork from Perthshire, cementing our commitment to using locally sourced produce whenever possible.
“Now the food is all taken care of, we just have to cross our fingers and hope the club is just as successful tomorrow night as the Spanish experience we have created.
“Either way, we wish both teams the best of luck throughout the duration of the League and look forward to welcoming the thousands of fans on Thursday.”
The Sodexo Prestige team designed the menu using some of Scotland’s finest sustainable produce, reinforcing the company’s commitment to sourcing food locally whenever possible.
In addition to the 280 full dining packages, 210 lounge packages have also been sold providing guests with tea, coffee and pies at half-time.
Pittodrie’s hospitality packages and their prices vary depending on which suite is booked and can range from anything from lighter refreshments and full three course meals to sporting dinners and weddings.
Amanda Brown, national accounts director of Sodexo Prestige in Scotland, said: “We are delighted to be welcoming more than 280 fans to the stadium to indulge in our executive dining experience.
“Thursday’s match is an important one, especially for Aberdeen, so we decided to put on an extra special menu to hopefully help fans get into the spirit of the competition that little bit more and get behind their team.
“It’s also a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase the talent of our chefs with the help of local, sustainable ingredients and give guests a taste of something you wouldn’t normally expect from typical football stadium dining.
“We wish the best of luck to both teams and hope the fans all enjoy their dining experience as much as the match itself.”
The match will kick-off at 7.45pm following the two-course meal but for more information on other hospitality packages available please visit: www.sodexoprestige-scotland.co.uk.
