VOLUNTEERS who help North Berwick’s blossoming reputation as one of Britain’s finest seaside towns have been given a welcome cash boost from housebuilder, CALA Homes.
The company, which created the sought after Gilsland Grange development in the town by transforming a former caravan park, has renewed its sponsorship of North Berwick in Bloom, helping the group to keep up its award-winning work.
Sheila Sinclair, secretary of North Berwick in Bloom, said: “We are very grateful to CALA Homes for their ongoing support into a second year. As a group of volunteers our work is dependent on the generosity and backing of businesses who are prepared to contribute financially.
“Every penny goes into our work creating and tending the flower beds, tubs and hanging baskets that stretch from one end of North Berwick to the other.”
Since launching in the 1990s, North Berwick in Bloom has also reaped a succession of awards for its work – including the Champion of Champions Gold Medal in the 2013 Britain in Bloom competition.
This summer delighted members also collected the Gold Medal and first prize at Gardening Scotland 2014 in the pallet garden competition. Law Primary School also collected a Gold.
Sarah Stanger, sales and marketing director at CALA Homes (East), said: “Firstly we want to congratulate North Berwick in Bloom for their latest award success, a very well-deserved recognition of the brilliant work they do.
“For our part we are delighted that our name will be associated with three of the biggest and most colourful tubs which the group maintains across the town.
“Our experience at Gilsland Grange, where houses have sold extremely quickly, has left us in no doubt about how popular North Berwick is, not just as a place to visit but as one of the most sought-after places in Scotland to live.
“That is down in no small part to the effort of volunteers with North Berwick in Bloom and likeminded groups who work so hard to make the town stand out.”
CALA Homes, the UK’s most upmarket major homebuilder which is headquartered in Scotland and employs 600 people, has also agreed three-year sponsorship deals with both the North Berwick Colts football team and North Berwick Rugby Football Club’s (NBRFC) mini teams.
CALA’s reputation was earned on the high quality of the homes it builds in developments which are sensitively designed to augment the areas in which they sit. The result is that its homes are not only highly sought after, but retain their value over decades and earn loyalty from owners, who often live in a series of CALA properties.
At Gilsland Grange, CALA Homes created 37 four and five-bedroom homes which have proven hugely popular, attracting buyers from Edinburgh, West Lothian and beyond and with only seven properties remaining this is the final chance for buyers to secure their home in this sought after location.
