THE catering team behind one of the UK’s top racecourses has notched its service up a gear by partnering up with Land Rover Experience Scotland to drive forward its conference business in Perth.
Sodexo Prestige, in-house caterers at Perth Racecourse, have been working closely with the racecourse and Land Rover Experience Scotland after identifying an opportunity to grow their conference market share and attract both regional events and blue chip conference business to Perthshire for teambuilding exercises.
Land Rover Experience Scotland is now working with the racecourse and Sodexo Prestige to offer budding team builders the ultimate conference and catering package which provides both unique added value and top quality food.
On 19 June, the racecourse welcomed its first 100 guests from across Scotland- including the Perthshire Business Tourism Group made up of both Perth Racecourse and Land Rover staff – for a day of team building and dining, putting this new partnership to the ultimate test.
The day included six different activities including; blindfolded Land Rover driving, vehicle circus driving where a two front ended Land Rover with a clutch and break at one end and the gears in the other were driven around a course, a blindfolded obstacle course, an inflatable human table football, two rodeo bulls and a bungee slide helping delegates work up a hearty appetite for the specially designed menu of locally sourced and highly nutritional food.
Tracey Quin, sales manager with Sodexo Prestige at Perth Racecourse, said: “It is very exciting to see the conference market slowly starting to grow again but clients are, without question, looking for an enhanced offer that maximises the use of their budget.
“Events that would have once been spread across multiple venues and days are now condensed into one, large event that ticks all the boxes. We must be able to compete on this level and by combining our existing partnership with Sodexo Prestige and our new partnership with Land Rover Experience Scotland, we can offer exactly this.
“This first event we held went down a storm and the client was delighted with the lengths we went to in order to ensure the smooth running of the day. The menu was also designed perfectly as it helped to refuel all of our hungry guests after a busy day of blindfolded driving, combating tough obstacles and several challenging team building exercises.”
The Sodexo Prestige team designed a menu using some of Scotland’s finest sustainable produce, reinforcing the company’s commitment to sourcing food locally whenever possible.
The menu included wood roasted red pepper and Ayrshire goats cheese tart, free range chicken drumsticks with heather honey and Isle of Arran mustard glaze and a Perthshire red berry trifle soaked in Edinburgh gin with freeze dried raspberry crumble.
Amanda Brown, national accounts director of Sodexo Prestige in Scotland, said: “At Sodexo Prestige we have managed to identify a growth in the market where we can bring an additional offer to Perth and ensure it is the destination of choice when sourcing great conferencing facilities.
“Our partnership with Perth Racecourse has been a successful one over the past 11 years where we have worked together to develop new offerings which allow us to build upon the solid foundations we have created here and introduce new ideas whenever possible.
“One of the key reasons behind our success as you can see reflected in this most recent menu is our commitment to using high-quality, locally sourced food when possible. Hopefully, this is the start of a strong and long-lasting partnership that will attract more business to both the racecourse and Perth as a whole.”
It is anticipated that the new partnership arrangement will allow Sodexo Prestige to tap into the multi-day conferencing market attracting room nights and additional delegate spend to the city centre.
