MAGGIE Braid Associates (MBA) has recently donated a much-needed iPad to the Additional Supports Needs (ASN) Base at Dyce Academy.
Explaining about the advantages of having the iPad, ASN teacher, Alan Millar, commented: “The pupils in the Base will benefit hugely from using the iPad and on so many levels.
“There are a number of apps that directly help those with Dyslexia and Dyscalculia as well as having voice recognition capabilities for those who are challenged with their manual dexterity.
“Plus, we can connect the iPad to our white board meaning that the students are able to use the iPad collectively in a group and learn with and from each other which is a real bonus.”
MBA were keen to help the ASN Base at Dyce Academy and having spoken to some of the teachers they quickly realised that one of the most effective ways of helping was to provide increased IT capability.
Lisa Barnard, marketing executive with MBA, explained: “The teachers at the Base were looking for ways to modernise the ICT input into their lessons but found their options limited due to the cost.
“By providing an iPad, the students are not only able to use some of the many apps available to aid their learning but they are also able to use it for more fun elements such as taking pictures whilst participating in activities or on school trips.”
