Queen’s Baton Relay at The Avenue
YOU are invited to send a film crew/photographer/reporter to The Avenue Shopping Centre in Newton Mearns (250 Ayr Road, Newton Mearns, Glasgow G77 6AA) for the Queen’s Baton Relay on Wednesday 16th July from 9.30am till 4pm.
The Queen’s Baton Relay will arrive in the mall at 9.45am, where there will be two baton bearer changeovers. One of the baton bearers is Russell Macmillan, a local blind, double transplant recipient who established East Renfrewshire’s Good Causes, The Avenue’s nominated charity.
The Commonwealth Youth Circus will present an opening performance at 10am and again at 3pm in The Avenue’s new public realm space.
There will also be a competition with chance to win four premium Opening Ceremony Tickets for the Commonwealth Games in conjunction with Barr. Other festivities throughout the day include: free face painting; balloon modelling; candyfloss and
Glasgow Science Centre Fit Labs in the mall.
