FORTH Valley College students and staff will be catering for some of the most important people in Britain, after being approached to provide hospitality for Stirling’s Armed Forces Day National Event on Saturday 28 June.
Hospitality students from across the Forth Valley area will be preparing and serving up a delicious buffet fit for a host of VIPs and guests from the political, diplomatic, academic and local communities.
Armed Forces Day National Event – at the new outdoor events area near Stirling Castle from 11.30am-6pm on Saturday 28 June – aims to celebrate and express appreciation for the work and the outstanding contribution of the Armed Forces, and to acknowledge serving personnel, reservists, cadets and veterans from all three services, and their families.
The national event includes current and vintage aircraft displays, and a colourful display by the Red Arrows. Tanks and other military vehicles will be at the events field, and there are plans for a tri-service simulated combat and rescue mission.
Diane Creed, head of Forth Valley College’s Hospitality and Salon Services Department, said: “We are honoured to be providing the catering services for Armed Forces Day National Event and delighted that our talented students will be able to show just how professional they can be in preparing and serving food to some of the most high profile people in the country.
“This will be a great experience for them and an ideal occasion for the College’s outside catering service to show just what it can do at such an important event.”
Stirling’s Provost, Mike Robbins, added: “I’m delighted that Forth Valley College students will provide catering for this fantastic, free event, which is going to be one of the biggest and most colourful celebrations the city has ever seen. It’s a fantastic opportunity for the students and I can’t wait to see, and taste, what they produce.”
