GLASGOW Clyde College’s School of Fashion, Textiles and Jewellery is known for constantly pushing boundaries and this year is no exception.
Instead of a traditional catwalk show, the school launched its student collections by producing a ground breaking film.
The college enlisted the help of creative director Terri Higgins, stylist Emma Watson and director Emily Wylde to create the short film – Fabricate.
The film incorporate garments by students from the college’s fashion design, fashion technology and fashion textiles courses and was shot on location at the stunning Govanhill Baths Community Trust.
Fabricate was launched recently at Glasgow Palomino and has received acclaim from fashion bloggers, including Sheri Scott of Forever yours, Betty.
She said: “The Glasgow Clyde fashion film was the perfect way to showcase growing Scottish talent.
“It is great to see the courses consider a technological showcase and create something that people can watch and share with the world, putting all eyes on Glasgow Clyde.
“Not only have they made something which perfectly showcases the talent in our city, but it also demonstrates Glasgow’s quintessential industrial beauty. “
“It’s always inspiring to see new creative talent and Fabricate did not disappoint,” said Amanda Wilson, of honeypopkisses.com.
“The collections were complex and visually breath-taking, and while the fashion film was brilliant in its own light it didn’t detract from the garments.
“The craftsmanship was impeccable and I am very excited to watch their careers develop.”
The college’s School of Fashion and Textiles, based at Cardonald Campus, boasts an impressive roll-call of alumni.
Visual creative director at Louis Vuitton, Faye McLeod, studied at the former Cardonald College, designer Louise Gray became the first designer to collaborate Topshop makeup, and Glaswegian designer Rebecca Torres was chosen by House of Fraser’s ‘Presents’ pop-up shops last year.
