NORWOOD Hall Hotel, one of Aberdeen’s most prestigious venues, showcased its recent refurbishment during a special event on Thursday, June 12th promoting its facilities and restaurant team.
Over 45 executives and corporate bookers were given the opportunity to experience Norwood’s unique country house atmosphere and sample some of the best of Scottish retail.
With exhibitors including The Highland Chocolatier, The White Company, The Aviemore Shop and Blue Sky Events, the evening focused on luxury experiences and the quality of home grown talent.
Executive chef, Kenny McMillan, provided a live cookery demonstration, searing scallops and talking to guests about the hotel’s commitment to local produce.
As Kenny explained: “The standard in our kitchen is already very high. My head chef was the Scottish Chef of the Year and in the Scottish Culinary Team, plus we only use the best ingredients.
“All our eggs and dairy are organic, all our chicken is free range and corn-fed and as for the seafood, it is my policy to make the most of the East Coast catch.
“I know which boat my seafood came off and whether it was out for a one or three day trawl, which is a big thing for me, as freshness is at the heart of our menu.”
Kenny also informed guests about the current £400,000 kitchen re-development which is nearing completion and how this will take the hotel’s menu to the next level.
“The business has grown considerably since 2009 and we have got a new kitchen to reflect that.
“It is approximately 200 sqm with the latest technology in the industry. I am particularly excited by the sous-vide technology we’ve got arriving, I will be able to slow cook lamb for 72 hours! It will be soaked through with taste.”
