YOUNG drama enthusiasts in Glasgow can still sign up for Scottish Youth Theatre’s Junior and Foundation Courses.
Glasgow teenager, Emma Hastings (14), has won a place on the Foundation Course for young people aged 12-15, and hopes to follow in the footsteps of former Scottish Youth Theatre participants, such as Dr Who’s Karen Gillan from Inverness, and Hollywood actor Gerard Butler, originally from Paisley.
Emma said: “Attending Summer Festival at Scottish Youth Theatre is one of the most enjoyable experiences I have ever had.
“Not only did I learn a lot about acting, but I met a lot of amazing people from all over Scotland. It’s great how everyone’s ideas are used and everyone gets an opinion and a choice on what we do.
“I recommend that other people come to Summer Festival because whether you are shy or confident, whether you come from the town or the country, you will always feel that you fit in at Scottish Youth Theatre.”
Scottish Youth Theatre’s annual Summer Festival gives young people the opportunity to be creative, learn new skills and meet new friends from across the country.
One and two=week courses are available in Glasgow. These fun and exciting introductory courses are open to complete beginners and include a final performance at the end of each course to an audience of family and friends.
The Foundation Course for ages 12-15 runs from 29 July to 9 August and the Junior Course for ages 8-11 from 6 to 8 August at SYT’s headquarters at the Old Sheriff Court.
