Media Release: North-east law firm’s partner takes the hot seat in French classic car rally

Stronachs-Rally

A PARTNER from a leading Scottish law firm swapped his desk for the racetrack to take the hot seat during a prestigious classic car rally in France.

David Forfar, who is a partner in Stronachs LLP’s upstream Oil & Gas team, which is one of the largest in Scotland, travelled to Paris to participate in the Tour Auto Optic 2000 classic car rally 2014.

The law firm, which has offices in Aberdeen, London and Inverness, sponsored the 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4, that Mr Forfar, 54, was navigating and driving during the five-day event.

More than 200 cars took part in the 23rd annual rally, and Mr Forfar supported driver and owner of the car, Anthony Pozner, over four race circuits and nine stages on closed roads in the east of France, covering almost 2000km.

After the traditional start in the Grand Palais, in which the cars were on display for Parisian enthusiasts, the rally followed a unique course featuring a mixture of closed country roads and racing tracks, before the coming to an end in Marseille.

Mr Forfar said: “I have known Anthony for over 25 years as I used to work for him when I was at university, travelling the world buying and selling classic cars at his London showroom.

“Anthony’s family’s business, Hendon Way Motors was established in London in 1952.

“My love of cars has continued to grow over the years, and this is the 15th year that I have taken part in the rally. It was great to have support from the firm. I definitely plan to return to the racetrack next year.”

Marketing manager, Judi Taylor, said: “Stronachs values its staff, and the firm positively encourages and supports employees to get involved in various activities, ranging from this type of event, to assorted ‘healthy pursuits’; albeit most of them are based a little nearer home.

“The company will again be supporting a group of 12 staff when they take part in the Ride the North cycle challenge for the fourth year in the summer, which will see participants cycling from Inverness to Elgin, then onto Aberdeen covering 164 miles over two days.

“The firm covers all the costs for the team so they can fundraise knowing every pound will go to one of the chosen charities.”
