ONE of Glasgow’s most fashionable luxury hotels is the national winner of the Bar of the Year award presented by the judges of the prestigious Scottish Hotel Awards.
Sponsored by Innis & Gunn, the Bar of the Year award is one of the most popular accolades in the industry and reflects innovation, superior interior design style and comfort, a vibrant atmosphere, unique character as well as customer service excellence.
Contenders for this award must offer knowledgeable staff with expertise in a particular area of beverage operation such as whisky, gin or wine, a varied menu and stock.
Head barman, Scott Ingram, was presented the award by Fiona Dickie, business development manager for Innis & Gunn at Blythswood Square Hotel’s salon bar after the Scottish Hotel Awards ceremony.
He was particularly commended by the judges who were impressed by the quality and efficiency of the customer service experience he provided.
Fiona Dickie, business development manager for Innis & Gunn, said: “Scott and his team at the Blythswood have got it spot on when it comes to their product and service.
“Their skill, flair and attention to detail is evident from the presentation of the drinks menus to the presentation of the drinks, all delivered with the most professional and attentive care. They are worthy winners.”
Vivien Devlin, deputy chair of the judges, said: “It was great to re-visit the hotel after a couple of years to see the changes in design, staff and hospitality.
“Simon Magnus is the new F&B manager, I knew him at Gleneagles and also the Hilton Glasgow, so it is excellent that he is now here to oversee the whole operation from service to design.
“What we love about the Salon is the vintage style of ambience, grand furnishings, spacious seating and island bar.
“It is classic and sophisticated, a perfect setting for a relaxing cocktail or celebratory fizz.
“They have a great team of young staff, we did meet Scott Ingram who runs a tight ship and is very observant ensuring a high standard of service.
“As well as a fine place to stay, the hotel has created a destination place to eat and drink for non-residents.”
Fiona Strauss, director of sales and marketing at The Townhouse Collection, said: “We are delighted to have been presented with Bar of the Year at the recent Scottish Hotel Awards.
“The Salon is a great bar loved by both our customer and the bar team and it is an honour to be recognised in this competitive industry.”
