A LEADING Scottish reprographics firm has shown its support for a local footballer by sponsoring his testimonial year to mark his official retirement.
North East Reprographics (NER), based in Aberdeen, has supported Cove Rangers footballer, Martin Johnston, as he celebrates his testimonial year in recognition of his time at the club.
As the final part of his testimonial year, Martin and his teammates from Cove, past and present, will welcome an Aberdeen XI side to Allan Park on Tuesday 29 April, which is open to everyone.
NER, which supplies Xerox machines and services including printers and copiers throughout the UK and Europe, will sponsor Martin on the night, with local sports shop, Soccer World, providing exclusive shirts and ball for the game, MTC Window and Doors will be match sponsor and Tayhar Properties will sponsor the programme on the night.
Martin said: “I am really looking forward to the game on Tuesday night. As an Aberdeen fan all my life, I always hoped that we could get Aberdeen as the opposition.
“However, I haven’t played a match since around Christmas time, so hopefully the rest of the Cove team will help me through on the night.
“My testimonial year has been great, and I am amazed by the amount of time and effort people have put into it on behalf.”
Spokesperson of the testimonial committee, John Sheran said: “Martin has been a great player for Cove Rangers with over ten years service to the club, so it is fantastic to see him getting a good send off.
“It will be great to see him playing with his teammates on Tuesday and to see him face an Aberdeen side for the last time. The committee would also like to thank all of the various sponsors for supporting Martin.”
Martin has made 318 league appearances in his time at Cove, scoring 155 goals making him third top scorer of all time.
The match will be pay at the gate, with tickets priced at £10 for adults and £5 for children and senior citizens.
