A TRACTOR dealership and Vet Group are open for business at United Auctions’ expanded Stirling Agricultural Centre as the company’s standalone development is completed.

The leading livestock auctioneers have welcomed Agricar to a brand new development, while Clyde Vet Group have opened a ground floor reception office in the main centre.

Agricar Ltd has relocated to Stirling, having outgrown its existing premises off the A84 in Doune.

Its new single storey 6,372 sq ft outlet, located on the centre’s front paddock, affords easy access for both customers collecting parts and heavy goods vehicles delivering machinery.

The purpose-built premises have been designed to provide the ideal showroom, displaying the full range of vehicles the company supplies. Agricar’s eight members of staff have relocated with the business and the company will be recruiting as it continues to grow. Their seventh Agricar Show will be held at the Agricultural Centre on May 3rd.

In the main centre, Unit 2A-2B is the new home of Clyde Vet Group, a bespoke farm animal service, which specialises in dairy cattle fertility, semen testing of cattle and sheep, mobile foot trimming health planning and preventative medicine. A new business for Stirling, it has expanded beyond its Lanark base to better service its clients in the area.

While there are no facilities to treat animals at the unit, it instead serves as the hub from which a dedicated team of three vets attend on-farm visits and includes a laboratory for speedy in-house sampling and a small dispensing pharmacy. It is also the base for the company’s new out-of-hours emergency service.

Two new receptionists recruited from the local area man the hub during office hours and an official opening day for existing clients will be announced later in the year.

The Stirling Agricultural Centre is already home to a range of professional agricultural brands including Carrs Billington, CKD Galbraith, Johnston Carmichael and Ledingham Chalmers.

Said Neil McLean, group joint MD of UA: “The expansion of the Agricultural Centre is a significant investment in the local and agricultural economy and allows for the growth of three agri-businesses – United Auctions, Agricar and Clyde Vet Group – all of which provide essential services to the farming community. We’re delighted to welcome them to Stirling.”

Said Derek Johnston, director of Agricar: “We’re continually striving to take our business forward as shown in our recent investments in Blairgowrie, Dundonald and Perth. The Stirling Agricultural Centre is the ideal site for growth, not only on in terms of location, but also for the portfolio of agricultural businesses in one place. A big deciding factor was forging a longer-term partnership with a go-ahead company like United Auctions.”

Said Charles Marwood of Clyde Vet Group: “With the natural expansion of our client base into North Lanarkshire, Falkirk and West Lothian, the launch of an office hub at the Stirling Agricultural Centre makes perfect sense, with its good transport links, essential for quick and easy access to our clients in the area. Along with the high footfall at the busy Centre and the brand awareness that being located there affords, the unit also gives us room to grow.”

Work started on the development in September 2013 and was completed in March 2014. It was project managed by CKD Galbraith and the team included MacDuff Architects, Brownriggs, Campbell of Doune with Algo as contractors.
