GLOBAL shipping, logistics and marine services provider GAC has appointed Sarah Garden as QHSSE co-ordinator at its Aberdeen base in Nord Centre, York Street, to further develop the health, safety, security and environmental policies with the intention of rolling them out to the rest of the 21 bases throughout the UK.
Miss Garden brings a wealth of experience in health and safety to her role with 12 years experience of working within health, safety and environmental related roles.
She said: “The right attitude to quality, health, safety and the environment (QHSSE) is no longer an ‘optional extra’ in business, it’s imperative. Globally and locally, the GAC Group already has robust policies in place to ensure that high standards are set and adhered to, and I look forward to helping raise the bar for GAC UK even further.”
As well as developing QHSSE policies, Miss Garden will conduct health and safety audits for GAC UK operations nationwide, as well as at the Aberdeen operation which currently employs 37 ship agency, freight forwarding and support staff at its 88,000 sq ft facility that includes warehousing and storage.
General manager for Oil & Gas, GAC Aberdeen, Steve Gibson, said: “Sarah joins GAC at an exciting time for the business with a vast amount of expansion within the UK Oil & Gas sector.
“Health, safety, security and environmental issues are a top priority for that industry, which plays such a key role in the local economy around Aberdeen, so it’s also a top priority for us. Globally, GAC is present at all major energy hubs, and locally business is growing so fast that we intend to double the size of the Aberdeen branch in coming years.”
