AVIEMORE’S prestigious High Burnside housing development has attracted high levels of buyers seeking second homes in addition to those who have swelled the population of the village to record levels.
Tulloch Homes has started work on the fourth and final phase of 19 homes, with prices from £345,000 to £485,000, in a wooded environment with views over the Cairngorms National Park.
The three-bedroom properties have already been snapped up leaving luxury four and five-bedroom homes.
Sales director, Lynne Boyd, said: “High Burnside has proved an excellent asset to Aviemore, feeding off pent-up demand in both the local market and outwith the area.
“More than half the total number of sales so far have been from people seeking second homes to enable them to ski, or go walking, cycling, golfing or the other attractions of the Spey Valley.
“Of those, some 70 per cent are from Aberdeen and the North-east, including a great number of people working in the oil and gas sector.
“This external market is greater than in any other of our locations, such as Inverness, underlining the unique appeal of Speyside.”
She added: “The roll-out of just under 100 modern homes at High Burnside over the past five years has played a part in the 36 per cent rise in Aviemore’s population over a decade.
“We anticipate strong interest in this final phase in this unique location.”
The Alder show home is a five bedroom split level villa with double garage and a second view home, the five bedroom Nevis design with double garage, opens in February.
Top of the range in this final tranche is the Lochnagar, set apart from the rest of the development and thus offering extra privacy, a five bedroom detached villa with double garage.
The other house styles, the Avon, Cruachan, Lomond and Wyvis designs, are all four bedroom homes.
Site manager, Andy Pirie, who won a National House Builders Council award for High Burnside, said: “You can see why so many people from outwith the immediate area want to come and stay here.
“It’s an upmarket development in such a very special location and with so many amenities and visitor attractions within easy reach.”
