TWO Edinburgh-based start-ups – smartphone app developer, clipigo, and premium vodka manufacturer, Heroes Drinks – have joined forces this Christmas and New Year to boost morale among the armed forces and their families.
It’s at this time of the year that serving members of the Armed Forces are undoubtedly most missed at home.
Now, there’s a fun and free competition that helps bring serving personnel and their families closer together, by sharing their experiences of the Festive Period.
It’s guaranteed to add smiles all round the world.
Says a spokesperson: “clipigo.com is a fast and free way for anyone to share videos across popular social media platforms. Heroes Drinks is a premium spirits producer that gives 20 per cent of its profits to services’ charities.
“The premise of the competition is simple: share videos of what the Festive Period means to you, perhaps an emotional homecoming, a prank on the parade ground, or family fun around the Christmas tree.
“The most popular videos at the end of the competition will be crowned the champions, and be in line for prizes that include rare bottles of Heroes Vodka, not normally available through retail channels.”
Chris Gillan, UK military veteran and managing director of Heroes Drinks, said: “I remember how tough it was serving away from home at Christmas and I hope that this competition gives the troops something to break the monotony by doing what British troops do best; using humour to get through tough times and sharing their video evidence of the lighter side of life in the military.”
Hamish Robertson, the Edinburgh entrepreneur behind clipigo.com, said he was delighted to be involved.
He said: “clipigo makes it easy for anyone, anywhere to take part in this Festive competition and, if we can help bring families, military and non-military, together at this special time of year, then, dare I say, everyone is a winner.”
The competition runs until 3 January 2014 and is open to everyone over the age of 18. To enter, visit www.clipigo.com and follow the simple instructions.
