THE festive season is a time of giving and an Aberdeen hotel will be spreading festive cheer by preparing special meals to gift to two local charities on Christmas day.
Mercure Aberdeen Ardoe House Hotel and Spa’s executive head chef, Richard Yearnshire, will be cooking 50 meals for The Cyrenians and the Salvation Army in Aberdeen.
Members of the Ardoe House staff committee have been supporting the charities for ten years, and the meals will be hand delivered personally by Mr Yearnshire and his team on Christmas day, before embarking on the hotel’s festivities.
The gourmet dishes will include a turkey lunch complete with all the trimmings, and Christmas pudding.
Ardoe’s, general manager, Peter Sangster, said: “As you can imagine, Richard and his kitchen team are extremely busy during the festive season, but still take time to cook first-class food to help make Christmas special for people attending The Cyrenians and Salvation Army Christmas Day lunches.”
Depute chief executive of Aberdeen Cyrenians, Scott Baxter, said: “We are delighted to thank the Ardoe for their continued support. As in previous years they are providing us with meals on Christmas Day for those that have nowhere else to go. I look forward to thanking them personally on Christmas day.”
Captain Matthew Bennett, of Aberdeen Salvation Army’s Citadel Corps, added: “We are extremely grateful that Ardoe House Hotel and Spa continues to support us, especially at Christmas time, to make provision for others in the local community who otherwise would be without.”
