A BUSINESS PLAN FOR SCOTLAND?

IN the first major business event to examine the Independence White Paper in detail, a panel of leading experts will give their objective analysis of what the plan could mean for Scotland’s economy and business.
They will be joined by Scotland’s Finance Minister, John Swinney MSP, and international businessman and board member of the Better Together campaign, Phil Anderton.
Speakers include Atholl Duncan, executive director, Institute of Chartered Accountants Scotland, who will examine what the White Paper could mean for financial services, including pensions; David Glen – head of tax, PWC Scotland – who will look at tax policy and Raymond O’Hare, founder of OC solutions and former head of Microsoft in Scotland who will explore connectivity.
Other experts are Professor Iain Docherty from the Adam Smith Business School, University of Glasgow, on transport; Chris Van der Kuyl, chair of 4J Studios and former chief executive of Brightsolid on enterprise and Dr John McGurk, head of Scotland, Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, on skills.
The event, which is held in association with the Institute of Directors Scotland (IOD Scotland), will also hear from Terry Murden, the Scotsman’s business editor and David Watt, director of IOD, Scotland. It is chaired by the leading business and political writer, Peter Jones.
