ISG is further enhancing its reputation within the education sector following the announcement of a new £4.5 million contract win at New College Lanarkshire to extend facilities at its Motherwell Campus.
Within Scotland, ISG has recently converted a brace of projects for key regional higher education (HE) providers – the University of Dundee and Abertay University.
This latest win sees the contractor build a four-storey steel frame extension to the Motherwell Campus main teaching building as well as the construction of a new HGV maintenance teaching facility on the campus.
With work scheduled to commence in November, the 1,800 sq m extension will enable the consolidation and enlargement of the existing Student Association and common room facilities, as well as providing additional flexible floor space for general teaching and meeting use.
Part of the ground floor extension includes the relocation of the existing shop, enabling the introduction of new changing facilities to support the college’s performing arts space.
The extension’s upper levels provide further flexible accommodation, with moveable partition walls providing a range of configurations and room size options for teaching, meeting rooms and seminar space.
Additional teaching capacity will be created across levels two and three and ISG will also reconfigure and refurbish areas of the existing building to create new toilet facilities.
Generous circulation areas will be created across each floor, including a new full-height feature spiral staircase and separate lift.
The separate HGV teaching facility will be housed within a new 799sq m steel frame structure, enabling the college to further increase the range of courses available to its students.
The brickwork and composite clad building will house a number of service bays and provide an outstanding addition to the college’s impressive range of modern training facilities.
