CLYDE 1 DJ George Bowie will be joining in the fun at Cook and Indi’s World Buffet in Johnstone this Saturday 16th November when he will wait on tables for the night, chat to customers and sign autographs as his fellow waiting staff serve up the world on a plate to diners sporting PJs and Onesies.
The enterprising outlet is hosting a special charity night to raise funds for BBC’s Children in Need appeal – and diners are invited to join in the fun by donning their night attire too!
Organised by Stephanie Thomson, manager at the Johnstone restaurant, the evening will feature a live performance from Robert Holt, lead singer of ‘Time and a Half Band’ at 6pm.
“All our staff, including myself, are very excited to be doing something great for charity – and we’re extremely grateful to Cook and Indee for having the faith to allow us to do such mad things!
“We’ve been selling raffle tickets in all Cook and Indi’s World Buffet outlets and have a fantastic list of prizes to be won that have been generously donated from local business and big football clubs.”
Amongst the prizes on offer are: a tour of Ibrox, home to Rangers FC, for six people; a family ticket to a St Mirren home game; a framed and signed top from Celtic FC; gift vouchers; beauty treatments and large boxes of sweets donated from Hannah Sweets Factory.
“The response we’ve had to our raffle from the public to date has been outstanding and we’ve already raised is £1700 for Children in Need,” said Thomson.
“Our aim is to raise at least £2500 and I’m delighted that, impressed by our fundraising efforts to date, our owners, Cook and Indee, have agreed to match whatever amount of money staff raise to double the sum to be donated to BBC Children in Need, so I’m hoping that we will be able to donate a cheque for £5000 – if not more!”
Cook and Indi’s World Buffet offers five different cuisines (Indian, Japanese, Sushi, Chinese and Italian) and over 100 dishes. Raffle tickets are available now at all Cook and Indi’s World Buffet restaurants. As well as Johnstone, it has outlets in Glasgow, Hamilton, Bishopbriggs and Darnley – with more opening soon.
