THE Edrington Group has appointed digital agency, Equator, to create a new state-of-the-art website for its premium rum brand, Brugal, in a bid to increase its market share in the UK.
The digital agency has been tasked with creating a global brochure site, showcasing the Brugal range and its strong heritage, which will be tailored with local market content and language.
The new site will be fully socially integrated, encouraging users to share its dynamic, ever-changing content.
Founded in the Dominican Republic in 1888, Brugal is one of the leading rums in the Caribbean and believed to be the number one golden rum in Spain, estimated to be Europe’s largest rum market.
The brand is now looking to increase its market share in the UK, where rum is an increasingly popular spirit of choice, and other growing markets around the world.
Garry Hamilton, business development director at Equator, said: “We are really pleased to further develop our relationship with The Edrington Group. Brugal is a vibrant, developing brand with its own unique personality and we are looking forward to creating an innovative new site that encapsulates that.”
Kirsten Daly, global brand manager, Brugal, added: “We were impressed with Equator’s track record in delivering innovative digital platforms for major brands both within the premium spirits sector and other industries and are looking forward to working closely with the team to create something really special for Brugal that will elevate the brand to where it should be in the market.”
The Edrington Group makes some of the world’s best-loved Scottish whiskies including The Macallan, The Famous Grouse, Cutty Sark and Highland Park, in addition to owning a majority shareholding in Brugal & Co.
Equator is one of the UK’s leading digital marketing agencies, employing more than 100 people at its studio in Glasgow.
The agency, which also has offices in NYC and Kiev, specialises in web design and development, SEO, PPC, social media, affiliate and display marketing, working with major brands, including Disney, AXA Insurance, SSE, Tesco Bank and Malmaison.
