AT an awards ceremony held at the Park Lane Hotel on the 17th July 13, Aulds Delicious Desserts – ‘Gluten-Free Belgian Chocolate Cheesecake’ was announced as winner of the Best ‘Free From’ Cake at the 2013 Cake Awards.
The event was hosted by award winning patissier and chocolatier, Will Torrent.
The Cake Awards is a national programme recognising everything from the finest tea room slice to the many varieties on the shelves of supermarkets and the cakes people buy to bake at home. They are the only awards dedicated to recognising excellence in cake.
Judges including Bruce Langlands, director of food at Harrods, Eric Lanlard, Master Pâtissier and Loic Carbonnet, head pastry chef at the Lanesborough, put each product through a rigorous judging process to decide the shortlist and winners based on strict criteria of excellent presentation, quality ingredients, recipe innovation, texture, taste and value.
Aulds award winning gluten-free cheesecake was highly commended by all judges.
The dessert marries crunchy chocolate biscuit base with a smooth Belgian chocolate cheesecake studded with chunks of chocolate brownie and is finished with sprinkles of dark chocolate curls. The cheesecake is pre-cut into 14’s for convenience to the caterer.

The award-winning ‘Belgian Chocolate Cheesecake’ is available to order from numerous independent foodservice wholesalers throughout the UK and Ireland also listed nationwide in Thornton’s Coffee Shops.
Aulds gluten-free dessert range also includes four other desserts: Luscious Lemon Cheesecake, White Chocolate and Raspberry Brownie, Rhubarb and Strawberry-flavour Cheesecake and Chocolate Stairway to Heaven.
