AN Aberdeen-based reservoir engineering company has made a key appointment to strengthen its expert team.
Oilgen, which specialises in high-tech reservoir modelling to forecast and improve oil and gas production, has appointed Ismail Labed as a staff reservoir engineer, due to the continued growth of the company.
Mr Labed, who is originally from Algeria, is a reservoir engineering postgraduate with five years experience working in reservoir engineering and two years experience in a consultancy environment.
He is currently completing a PhD in reservoir engineering, which focuses on shale gas reservoir flow, at Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen.
Before moving to the North-east, Mr Labed, 31, worked as a reservoir engineer with a subsurface team in Algiers, and he will use his extensive knowledge to assist the Oilgen management team.
Oilgen is currently working on projects in the North Sea, France, Egypt, West Africa and Holland for top names in the oil and gas industry.
Oilgen managing director, Laurent Schirrer, said: “We were initially attracted by Ismail’s scientific background, as well as his extensive experience in reservoir engineering, and the growth of the team will allow us to increase our capacity to cope with more projects as we expand into the shale gas market.
“Natural gas production from shale rocks is booming in America as this is a reliable, affordable, cleaner and responsibly produced energy, and we are anticipating a strong demand for our expertise. Ismail’s expert knowledge in the area is a great asset to the company.”
In addition to subsurface project management, Oilgen operates an advisory branch, which includes access to a range of experienced consultants providing further support to its clients in reserves and acquisitions.
