SHEPHERD Chartered Surveyors managing partner Ian Fergusson has been elected to the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Scotland board as a non-executive member; the first time a partner from the firm has been represented on the board.
In this role he will contribute to the ongoing development of RICS’ corporate strategy and seek to encourage innovation, ambition and ideas from and among the local membership that will help to advance the business plan objectives of RICS.
Fergusson said: “I’m delighted to be elected to the RICS Scotland Board and particularly look forward to progressing promotion of the Home Report as an innovative product that is helping to rejuvenate Scotland’s residential property market.
“Home Reports make the process of buying a home more transparent by removing much of the uncertainty over the condition of the property and what price to bid and accept. By so doing, they are encouraging a much-needed flow of transactions in the current housing market.”
Ian Fergusson is a fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) who has worked in the property industry for 30 years. He is also a member of the Assigned Risks Panel (ARP), which helps firms experiencing Professional Indemnity Insurance issues in the current difficult market conditions.
Last year, he was appointed chief surveyor at Sesame Bankhall Valuation Services (SBVS). Formed from the joint venture between Sesame Bankhall Group, the UK’s largest distributor of retail financial advice, and Direct Valuations, the first and largest independent panel manager in the UK, SBVS works for its lender partners to manage risk by providing full national postcode coverage, via client approved panel surveyor members and two tiered professional indemnity cover.
