AN AWARD-winning PR consultancy is helping a North-east cancer charity celebrate its 30th anniversary by pledging to raise at least £30,000 by November.
Frasermedia, which is based in Aberdeen’s Chattan place, has teamed up with clients and acquaintances in a bid to collectively raise as much as they can for local cancer support centre, CLAN.
The Frasermedia and Friends CLAN Challenge, launched at the beginning of May will see team members take part in several events and challenges to coincide with the charity’s anniversary year.
Fundraising started with a challenge that tested the audience’s brain skills with the ultimate quiz night, which was held at NOX nightclub on Thursday 31 May, and saw the team raise almost £4,000.
Other planned events include an 80s disco, ladies nights, paintball competitions, parachute jumps and abseiling challenges, with many more to be announced.
Businesses and individuals are being encouraged to sign up to the challenge and organise their own fundraising events and stunts, and they can also make CLAN their nominated charity for the year, with all the money raised going towards the challenge total.
Managing director of Frasermedia, Pauline Cook, said: “I have been a patron of CLAN for a number of years now and to mark the charity’s 30th year, the team and I wanted to do something special, and we decided to raise at least £30,000, along with our clients and local business associates, so we can collectively help CLAN to continue to deliver its crucial service in Aberdeen.
“Our successful first event has motivated us to reach our target and very excited about the fundraising events to follow.”
CLAN, which was founded in 1983, provides comfort, support and information, for anyone of any age affected by cancer in the North-east Scotland, Moray, Orkney and Shetland.
It costs more than £2.4 million every year to keep its centre and the vital service it provides, afloat.
Susan Crighton, fundraising manager at CLAN, said: “We are delighted that Frasermedia and their clients are supporting CLAN.
“Each year, we are continually overwhelmed by the amazing generosity and outstanding support we receive from the community, which allows us to continue offering our crucial services in the North-east.
“The Frasermedia and Friends Challenge is set to be an exciting one, full of special events and terrifying challenges, with lots still to be announced.”
