GLASGOW-based recruitment director, Allan Dickson, is looking forward to seeing his wife and daughters cheering him on at the Eiffel Tower finish line on May 11 after cycling 500km from London to Paris over three days.
Newton Mearns businessman Allan will join over 100 participants in his first L2P Bike Ride to raise awareness and vital funds for Epilepsy Scotland, as a mark of respect for his brother Grahams sudden death from epilepsy some years ago.
Allan, aged 45 said: “Given what happened in my family, I want people to know more about epilepsy.
“It’s a condition that’s very common and yet the public is largely unaware of it. I also want to raise money for a charity that gives incredible support to individuals and their families across the country.
“I’ve fallen in love with cycling, and taking part in this event combines my passion to talk about epilepsy with bringing in funds for such a worthwhile cause.”
Dales Cycles and Livingston-based firm, Endura, have been fantastic with their help and support with kit and supplies to help Allan in his quest to complete the event. Additionally, Glasgow Green Cycle Club, of which Allan is a club member, have been instrumental with his training programme as well as the donations from his fellow members through his just giving page – https://www.justgiving.com/Allan-Dickson2013 – all of which will help him to raise his target of £2,500.
Allan is already planning his next charity bike ride for Epilepsy Scotland in 2014, a 900-miles trip from John O’Groats to Lands End!

- The L2P Bike Ride is held four times a year and is organised by Skyline events. 150 riders are expected to take part in the London-Paris cycle ride. The race is over three and a half days. Contestants start from Crystal Palace in London on Wednesday 8 May at 6am and finish the ride at the Eiffel Tower in Paris on Saturday 11 May in the early afternoon.
