Media Release: SME puts best foot forward for local charities

JBP participants in Twilight Walk

INVERURIE-based John Bell Pipeline has proved that smaller companies can have a big impact when it comes to raising money for good causes.

Instigated by marketing co-ordinator, Natalie Kane, the company has recently formed a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) committee to address the social responsibility of the company, including identifying any fundraising activities and good causes to support.

The committee set to work and within a very short space of time have not only identified the what’s and wherefores, but have already signed up 13 of their colleagues to take part in two events over the coming weeks.

Speaking about their first event, CSR committee chairperson Natalie Kane explained: “The Twilight Walk was an obvious event for us to start with as it’s in our local community plus it’s for Cancer Research UK which is a very close cause for many of the team.”

In fact, it seems the cause has touched a nerve with several people within John Bell Pipeline so the company has also become silver sponsors for the event which is taking place this year on 10th May.

Their next event is just one week later on 19th May, being the City of Aberdeen Baker Hughes 10km road race.

“We are running the Baker Hughes 10K to raise money for the Archie Foundation as, once again, this is a local charity and is such a good cause, making a real difference to the lives of sick children in the North of Scotland,” said Natalie.

With several more events planned for the year, this newly-formed CSR committee are a shining example of what can be done with great teamwork and the determination to succeed.
