AN independent Inverness-based energy consultancy is undertaking a business expansion programme and looking to new international markets.
esave, set up by directors, Neil Watson and George Michie, provides advice and consultancy on all aspects of energy to clients across the UK, Scandinavia and Africa.
Both Neil and George had successful careers at Scottish and Southern Energy before forming esave.
Supported by funding from Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE), the company is looking to employ extra staff and significantly increase turnover over the next few years.
Fergus Ewing MSP, Minister for Energy, Enterprise and Tourism, is visiting the company today (Thursday 18 April) to find out more about their international expansion plans, discuss their views on how the energy markets are currently serving organisations in Scotland, and how esave is helping businesses contribute towards Scotland’s stretching carbon reduction targets by becoming more energy efficient.
esave provides full energy management consultancy services, carrying out energy audits, and offering advice on the full range of carbon reduction strategies such as renewables.
They also offer a bespoke online energy and water monitoring tool, ensensus, which helps clients understand their usage and identify waste.
Through their knowledge and skills they work with clients to draft long term business energy strategies and sustainability plans, and help clients achieve compliance with either legal or voluntary standards.
The company are currently working with Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen on a Knowledge Transfer Programme project to further develop the ensensus software package.
In October 2012, esave won the Best Service Supply award at the Energy North Awards.
Minister for Energy, Enterprise and Tourism, Fergus Ewing said:
“It is inspiring to see first-hand the work being carried-out by esave to help minimise energy and environmental impact in Scotland.
“In April of this year, the Scottish Government launched its new Resource Efficient Scotland programme, delivered by Zero Waste Scotland, to provide support to business, third sector and public sector organisations to reduce overheads through improved energy, material resource and water efficiency.
“Work of companies like esave showcases how being smarter in how we use valuable resources like energy, water, and raw materials has a key role in delivering the Scottish Government commitment to sustainable economic development.
“I was keen to hear today about esave’s future plans and commitment in improving energy and resource efficiency across business and public sector nationally and internationally. The funding approval from Highland and Island Enterprise and Scottish Development International shows the commitment in esave to the development.”
George Michie, from esave, said:
”I had the pleasure of meeting Mr Ewing recently and took the opportunity to invite him to visit us, to see at first-hand what we do. We are looking forward to discussing the potential impacts of the 2014 referendum on energy markets in Scotland, the current plans by the Scottish Government to help organisations manage energy costs and become more sustainable, and the challenges we find at the sharp-end when discussing carbon reduction plans with clients.”
