ACCORDING to the results of the first 2013 Algarve property market survey, there is every reason to be positive.
The 10-10-10 Algarve Residential Tourism Survey 2013, run by ILM Group and Property Lynx, made front page news in the regional press and revealed a marked increase in buying and selling transactions in 2012 over the previous year.
The results concluded that the majority of real estate agents surveyed had received enquiries, offers and transactions.
More importantly, they reported enquires leading to purchases.
Property sales in the €100,000 to €500,000 price range accounted for 51 per cent of the market in 2012, an increase of 17 per cent on 2011, with 25 per cent of total transactions falling into the €250,000 to €500,000 price bracket.
Discounted prices contributed to the surge in sales, by attracting cash buyers to invest in the Algarve. While British buyers made up 46 per cent of the market, other investors came from across the globe.
At a time when the industry is seeing a renewed enthusiasm from buyers across Western Europe, as well as interest from outside of the EU, agents need a reliable channel to market Algarve property for sale to this wider audience.
At the same time, the industry needs to make it easy for buyers to find property online.
Meravista is doing just that.
A brand new property website that focuses exclusively on Algarve property, Meravista provides agents with a shop window to showcase their portfolios across Western Europe and beyond, and it offers buyers an easy option to find property for sale.
Meravista’s property listings are supported by a bank of information on the Algarve, guidance on buying Portuguese property and help with living in the region.
Founder, Anita Van Huson, comments: “We are encouraged by the positive survey results and by the Portuguese Government’s commitment to marketing Portugal and its initiatives to attract buyers.
“We believe that our ongoing investment in online marketing and search engine optimisation (SEO) will serve to steer this new wave of property seekers to Meravista.”
Sarah Locke, of Tavira House and Home in the Algarve, comments: “A contributing factor to our success as a real estate agent here in the Algarve, is choosing the right mediums to market our properties.
“The reason I chose Meravista is because they have dedicated their site to Algarve property and, from what I have seen so far, they are representing my business professionally and are investing in reaching my target market.”
