Media Release: North-east finalists revealed for Grampian Awards for Business Excellence

THE wait is finally over for businesses and individuals in the area desperate to discover if they have made it to the finals of one of the North-east’s most prestigious business awards.

The shortlist of finalists in the Grampian Awards For Business Excellence 2013 has been unveiled, with a total of 30 contenders in the ten award categories, including young up-and-coming businesses, family owned enterprises and long established companies in the Grampian area.

Enterprise North East Trust (Enterprise) received a record number of entries from top talent in the North-east for this year’s competition, and the judges have been impressed by this year’s high standard of applications.

Gary McEwan, chief executive of Enterprise, said: “We were overwhelmed by the number of registrations. This shows the pure determination of people in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire to succeed in the business world.

“The excellent standard of entries made it extremely difficult for the team of judges to make a decision about the finalists. It’s clear from the entries that businesses in the North-east are flourishing and it really is a tough competition this year. I wish all the finalists the best of luck.”

Mike Fergusson, from headline sponsors RBS said: “I’m delighted that RBS has supported the Grampian Awards for Business Excellence for over a decade. Through our partnership, we continue to focus on supporting SMEs by linking them with other businesses, industry experts and the Government to help them succeed.”
