A BALLOON launched as part of The Angus Hotel’s New Year’s Day celebrations in the Scottish town of Blairgowrie has been found in the Lincolnshire town of Barnetby – some 330km away from its original launch location.
The New Year’s Day balloon launch saw 93 balloons launched by guests ringing in the New Year at The Angus Hotel, raising £186 for the SSPCA in the process.
Winning balloon (number AH26) was found by Mr Wright in the Lincolnshire village of Barnetby, and both he and Mr Murray, the guest that launched the well-travelled balloon, will now receive £100 each in hotel vouchers as their prize.
Murray Scott, managing director of Scott Hotels, commented: “It’s amazing how far these balloons have travelled and, when you consider the weather challenges the UK has faced since the turn of the year, it’s amazing they are even still in the country!
“We’re delighted for both Mr Wright and Mr Murray and look forward to welcoming them both to the hotel, regardless of how far they have travelled.”
Three runners-up tickets were found in Riplingham in East Yorkshire, Belford in Northumbria, and Coldingham, in the Scottish Borders, with the launchers and finders of those balloons also to receive £50 hotel vouchers.
