THE Ups and Downs Theatre Group brings its latest production, Take 18, to The Hamilton Town House Theatre for five days early next month.
An unique club where young people with Down’s Syndrome from central Scotland come together with a shared passion for music, theatre and dance, Ups and Downs Theatre Group provides an opportunity for children and young people to break out of their stereotypes and into the limelight.
Established 18 years ago by three schoolteachers and plenty of hands-on help and support from friends and family members, today Ups and Downs still boasts some original cast members who have grown from children through teenage years into confident young adults.
Lorna Leggatt, club president, said: “Take 18 is this unique cast’s opportunity to showcase what they have learned in the last seven months of intensive rehearsals, while having great fun singing, dancing, and displaying the positive face of disability to their audience.
“The confidence-boosting experience of being part of Ups and Downs is something none of them are willing to give up – so we now have a cast which ranges in age from five year olds up to 30 somethings, with a smattering of everything in between!
“The show has gone from strength to strength and is now in its fourth year at Hamilton Town House, playing to record audience numbers, having relocated from its previous home at Motherwell Civic Theatre. Why not come along to Take 18 for a unique theatre experience!”
The Ups and Downs Theatre Group will be performing Take 18 at The Hamilton Town House theatre from Monday 4th – Saturday 9th March (excluding Wednesday).
Tickets are available from UPSANDDOWNS.TICKETSOURCE.CO.UK or 07407 472409.
